School-Required Volunteer Hours

Stanly Community Christian Ministry (SCCM) welcomes students who must complete volunteer hours for school-related programs such as senior projects, Beta Club, National Honor Society, sororities, and other service-based organizations. We provide a meaningful way for students to give back to the community while fulfilling their requirements.

Students ages 14 and up are eligible to volunteer. An adult must accompany those 14-15 years old, while students 16 and older may volunteer independently. We offer flexible scheduling to accommodate school and extracurricular commitments and work closely with students to ensure they have a rewarding experience. Whether you need a few hours or a long-term project, SCCM provides a supportive environment where students can make a real impact. We ask that all information about your program be shared with the Volunteer Services Director (e.g., hours required, contact information, etc.)

Available Hours & Opportunities

Students enrolled in school FULL-TIME

  • There is limited availability due to school hours and after-school activities. Saturdays and after-hours pantry shifts often work best unless volunteers volunteer during school breaks or teacher workdays.

  • Most often, these students will complete their hours at:

    • The Clothing Closet

    • Monday or Thursday after-hours food pantries

    • Saturdays at the Community Table (when scheduling and church sponsors allow).

Available Hours & Opportunities

Students enrolled in school PART-TIME

  • Students enrolled in school part-time have more flexibility and may be able to volunteer before or after their school schedule or on their days off.

  • We encourage these students to fully inform us of their schedule so we can help them find a volunteer opportunity that fits their availability.

  • Most often, these students will complete their hours at any of our locations suitable for them, based on availability.

"I love seeing young people step up to serve their community. I truly believe that the earlier someone starts volunteering, the more it shapes them into compassionate and empathetic individuals. Volunteering teaches responsibility, kindness, and an understanding of the struggles others face, lessons that stay with them for life."

"When students give their time to help others, they’re not just making a difference today; they’re building a foundation of service that they’ll carry into adulthood. One day, they’ll teach their own children the importance of giving back, continuing a cycle of generosity and care for generations to come. Watching these young volunteers grow in confidence, leadership, and empathy reminds me why our work matters. They are the future, and I am grateful to be part of their journey."
